1840 Bible for the Blind

Knox president Hiram Kellogg traveled to London in 1843 for a meeting of the International Anti-Slavery Society. Among the many books he brought home
for Knox’s first library was this 4-volume New Testament.
Designed “for the use of the blind” before the later adoption of Braille, the entire text was embossed in a very simple all-caps font. The library’s copy was signed by its publisher and printer, John Alston, and was presented to President Kellogg on November 28, 1843.
