New Digital Exhibit


Visit the digital exhibit Seeing America: Vision and Visual Culture in the United States. Students from Professor Gregory Gilbert's course, Introduction to Art Museum Studies, designed this digital exhibit to accompany their curated exhibit of the same name, which opened at the Galesburg Civic Art Center May 11, 2018.

The art exhibited comes from collections owned by Knox College and the Galesburg Civic Art Center.

Library's Digital Collections Appear in the DPLA


Digital collections from the Knox College Library are now available in the Digital Public Library of America. The DPLA is a portal that brings together on one search platform U.S. libraries' collections of digital items. The Knox College Library's digital collections are included in the DPLA via the Illinois Digital Heritage Hub, a partnership between our academic library consortium, CARLI, and the Illinois State Library, Chicago Public Library, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A Long Perspective: Art and Artists at Knox College

Cuneiform Tablets in Special Collections


Two scholars have written a paper describing ancient artifacts held in the Knox College Special Collections. The paper "Cuneiform Texts in the Special Collections of Knox College" appeared in a 2015 issue of the journal Cuneiform Digital Library Bulletin.  In the paper Liu Changyu and John P. Nielsen describe the artifacts and provide transcriptions and translations of the texts on the stone tablets.

Knox Archives Contributes Issues of "The Old Soldier"


The Knox College Special Collections and Archives recently contributed several issues of a rare newspaper, The Old Soldier, to the Illinois Digital Newspaper Collections. The entire run of the paper from February 1840 to October 1840 is now online and freely available to researchers around the world thanks to the contributions made by Knox College, the Newberry Library and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
